A Migration Celebration!

Whale Fest Kodiak celebrates the return of Eastern Pacific Gray Whales to Alaskan waters. Here on scenic Kodiak Island in the Gulf of Alaska, we are privileged to have nearly all of this population pass by on their journey north. Some of these gray whales remain here all summer to feed before returning south.

Whale Fest Kodiak 2013 will mark the 17th year that the festival has been running. It is not only anticipated by locals, but also attracts tourists who travel to Kodiak to take part in the festivities. Whale Fest events include scientific lectures, marine mammal-inspired music, traditional Native Alaskan games, and environmental forums.
